Folding e-bikes for apartments and RVs: weight first, then everything else

If the bike has to go up stairs, into a closet or into an RV bay, weight matters more than range. The folding pick on this site is the ANCHEER 14 inch Folding. Its listing bullets give 48.5 lb and 49.2 inches long, with a 20 MPH cap and UL2849 Compliant in the title.
Check these four things
- Real weight. Listings often show two numbers. This ANCHEER says 48.5 lb in the bullets and 61.6 lb in the spec table, which may include packaging. Ask the seller for the bike-only weight with battery. Then ask yourself if you can lift that to waist height.
- Folded size. We did not find folded dimensions in the listing sections we checked on September 18, 2026. Measure your closet, trunk or RV bay and ask the seller before you order.
- Battery certification. Many apartment buildings and some cities now ask for UL 2849 or UL 2271. RV parks and campgrounds can have their own rules too. Get the certificate from the seller if your lease or city requires it.
- Wheel size. 14 inch wheels fold small but ride rough and feel twitchy. 20 inch fat tire folders ride better but usually weigh 60 lb or more.
What to expect from the ANCHEER folder
- 374Wh battery. Expect about 10 to 19 real-world miles, not the 20 to 50 the maker claims. One owner in the review summary reports a 17 mile round trip.
- Listed fit: 4 ft 7 in to 5 ft 11 in, max load 265 lb.
- Front and rear suspension plus seat springs, and disc brakes.
- Caveat: some owners find it less stable than expected, and battery reports are mixed. Test it fully inside the return window.
If it does not have to fold
A bike that lives on a ground floor or on an RV rack does not need to fold. The Jasion EB5 is about 50 lb with a normal frame that fits most racks. The Heybike Cityscape 2.0 is 61.73 lb with a step-through frame. For an RV rack, check that the rack is rated for e-bike weight per bike, and take the battery off before you lift. That drops several pounds and keeps the battery out of road spray.
Charging in a small space
- Charge where you can see it, on a hard surface, away from the door you would use to get out. In an RV that usually means outside or in an open bay, not beside the bed.
- Do not charge while you sleep or while you are out. Unplug when it is full.
- Do not leave the battery in a hot car, a hot RV bay or direct sun.
- Ask your landlord or park about e-bike rules before you buy.
