E-bikes for short riders and tall riders: the fit range each listing states
Updated
Most budget e-bikes come in one frame size, so the rider height range in the listing is your only fit guide. Under 5 ft 2 in, the ANCHEER 14 inch Folding (4 ft 7 in to 5 ft 11 in) and the Heybike Cityscape 2.0 (from 5 ft 1 in) are the only bikes here that list a fit for you. Over 6 ft 4 in, only the Jasion EB5 Ultra does, at up to 6 ft 7 in.
Listed rider height, shortest to tallest
| Bike | Listed rider height | Frame |
|---|---|---|
| ANCHEER 14 inch Folding | 4 ft 7 in to 5 ft 11 in | Low folding frame, 14 inch wheels |
| Heybike Cityscape 2.0 | 5 ft 1 in to 6 ft 3 in | Step-through, 26 inch wheels |
| ANCHEER Sunshine | 5 ft 2 in to 6 ft 3 in | Step-over, 26 inch wheels |
| Jasion RetroVolt | 5 ft 4 in to 6 ft 3 in | Moto-style bench seat, 20 inch fat tires |
| Jasion EB5 | 5 ft 4 in to 6 ft 4 in | Step-over, 26 inch wheels |
| Jasion EB5 Ultra | 5 ft 6 in to 6 ft 7 in | Step-over, 26 inch fat tires |
These are the makers' numbers as shown on each listing on September 18, 2026. We did not see a height range in the two TST listings, so ask the seller before ordering one of those.
Why height alone is not enough
Two people of the same height can have very different leg lengths. What decides fit is your inseam against two things: the standover height of the top bar, and the lowest and highest seat positions. Budget listings rarely give those, so ask the seller for the minimum seat height from the ground. You want to be able to touch the ground with the balls of both feet while seated, or stand flat-footed over the bar when you slide forward off the seat.
If you are short
- A step-through or low folding frame removes the top bar problem. See step-through vs step-over.
- Avoid heavy bikes. A 75 lb bike is hard to hold up from tiptoes.
- Moto-style bikes with a fixed bench seat cannot be lowered. The listed minimum is a hard limit.
If you are tall
- The EB5 Ultra lists the tallest range here. Caveat: it is a very powerful bike that may not count as a legal e-bike where you live. Read classes and peak watts.
- Small folding bikes will feel cramped. On a bench-seat bike you can slide back, but your knees will still be bent when you pedal, so expect to lean on the throttle, which costs range.
- Tall riders are often heavier riders too. Check the payload numbers.
Keep the box until you have sat on the bike. Fit is the most common reason to send one back, and returning a 60 lb box is much easier with the original packaging.
